Monica Watkins is a successful Ford model/artist/philanthropist. In 2008 she combined her passion for helping others and her understanding of the power of art and created Art in Motion. Art In Motion serves as a platform to seek out and nurture young, disadvantaged artists, allowing them to reach their potential and enhance the world around them by setting an example of giving, hope and achievement. Art in Motion emphasizes charity, social consciousness, artistic freedom and global harmony.
Art in Motion has created art, music, fashion, and photography workshops to more than 1,300 children in Europe, Haiti, Asia and America working with incredible organizations and programs.
Over the past several years Monica has managed artists and created and hosted the Art in Motion TV/Radio Show at Urban Latino Radio. She has shot and directed two documentary films, shot and art directed fashion and photography campaigns and organized/produced numerous charity events.
Art In Motion has helped raise thousands for Housing Works, The Somaly Mam Foundation, GEMS and Stoked Mentoring in NYC, HAUP(Haitian-Americans United for Progress), Pou Soley Leve, The Diakonos Orphanage and Art Day Celebration in Haiti, and Doctors Without Borders for the Japan Disaster Relief Effort, The Somaly Mam Foundation and HandsOn Hong Kong in Asia.
Monica has curated exhibits “Love+Serve Haiti” at The Be Human Gallery in Houston, TX and at Rare Gallery, Bold Hype Gallery and Leigh Wen Fine Art Gallery in NYC, ‘The Art Of Beauty Experience’ Exhibit and The Emmanuel Fremin Gallery featuring works by the Children of Diakonos Orphanage and The young women of GEMS, Haitian Artists Wilfredo Morel and Alex Louis and ‘Rebirth of a Nation’ Exhibit at Art Basel Miami 2011(Art Now Fair at The Catalina Hotel).
